What is NIOS?

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) was established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, which has equal weightage to CBSE and ICSE while offering education through a distance learning system. Learners are provided with a structured textbook that meets their objectives. NIOS encourages learners to have flexibility where they have the freedom to select their own subjects and study hours. NIOS makes education accessible to individuals who are interested in sports and other extracurricular activities, working professionals, homemakers, and school dropouts.
