Mental Resilience During Examination

“For every ailment under the sun,

There is a remedy, or there is none.

If there is one, try to find it.

If there is none, never mind it!”

During examinations, students will go through a mixture of emotions, one of which is panic, and this panic can make them lose a lot of marks. This does not stop here; the loss of marks in one subject can also affect their mentality for the remaining examination. It is true that students are stressed before the examination, during the exam, and also after the exam while awaiting the results. I personally think that mental health is very important for a student. Let us see how a student can show mental resilience during exams.

1. Overcome the fear

Every student must pursue the thought of optimism and clear out the word fear from their mind. To overcome fear, students must purify their minds. Students may look at exams as a do-or-die moment as they feel like their future hinges on their performances. But if everyone is honest, then they do not need to worry; they can easily write exams with confidence and without fear because they know the answer. The only thing that should be in every student’s mind is “no panic.” Panic is the only thing that leads to fear, and that should be erased from everyone’s mind.

2. Competitive Mindset

A coin has two sides: heads and tails. Let us consider heads as a positive mindset and tails as a negative mindset. If we are tossing the coin, then there will be a probability of either getting heads or tails. It is similar to a student who is working hard to gain more marks to satisfy themselves. Few are on the heads side, taking up healthy competition among friends to develop their skills and knowledge, while few are on the tails side, considering competitions as mere comparative stress. Students should stop comparing themselves with others and work only for their aspirations.

3. Planning and Reset

It’s never too late for a student with strong determination to achieve high. The right plan and strong commitment can increase the mental resilience of a student while preparing for exams. Our minds are just like gadgets; we go to the ‘factory setting’ and ‘reset’ our device by deleting all old data so that the device starts functioning at its original speed; we must also delete the garbage from our minds. We must make this a constant process. By following a proper plan and resetting our minds to one focus point, students can surely overcome unnecessary stress and anxiety about exams.
