The integration of gadgets into the education system has revolutionized the way students learn and interact with knowledge. The gadgets have positive as well as negative impact on education. Nowadays students have started to use more gadgets and spend more time in that. Because of gadgets, reading habits have slowly dropped. Digital tools such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other devices have become ubiquitous in classrooms worldwide. One of the primary advantages of gadgets is that they provide instant access to vast amounts of information. Students can use devices to search for information, access digital libraries, read research papers, and view educational videos. The internet has democratized learning, allowing students from diverse backgrounds to access educational resources that were once out of reach. Gadgets have enabled interactive learning experience. Educational apps, digital games, and multimedia content make learning more engaging and fun. This interactive approach can help students retain information better than traditional or normal teaching methods. Some social or internet platforms like Khan Academy, Duolingo, and Coursera provide personalized lessons and instant feedback. It was very much used during the pandemic, like COVID-19, making students learn from home safely. It provided education through the internet.
Let us see about the negative impact of gadgets. One of the main concerns about gadgets in education is that they can be a source of distraction, social media like Instagram, Snapchat, etc., games like Free Fire, PUBG, etc., and other non-educational apps can divert student’s attention away from their studies. While gadgets offer numerous educational benefits, the temptation to engage in non-educational activities can prompt them. Over reliance on gadgets can reduce a student’s ability to think critically or solve problems without the aid of technology. Nowadays, AI like Chat GPT, Meta AI, etc., are giving the information or answers. This affects the student’s thinking ability; the student may struggle with reading books or writing by hand. This also affects their health. Gadgets, when used properly, have the potential to enhance the education; improper use of gadgets can lead to drawback of education.
