A Mommy’s First Day at School
As I sent my precious daughter to school for the first time, I couldn’t help but reflect on our journey. Born prematurely at 1.090 kg, she fought for life in the NICU for 31 days. By God’s grace, she’s thriving today. Overcoming postpartum depression took nearly two years, making this milestone even more poignant. Sleepless nights filled with worries about separation and adapting to a new environment.
Inspired by the school’s name, “MAHATMA,” and its reputation for nurturing talents, I took the leap. My daughter, dressed in her favourite unicorn dress, looked like a princess. As she held her teacher’s hand, saying “Bye, Amma,” my heart skipped a beat. Tears welled up, but she beamed with excitement, captivated by colourful classrooms, new friends, and a loving teacher. That day, I learned from my child’s tiny heart that excitement trumps fear. My first day at school was a rollercoaster of emotions; hers was pure joy.
As I watched my daughter take her first steps into the world of education, I realized motherhood is a journey of growth, self-discovery, and letting go. Every child’s first day of school is a testament to their resilience and adaptability. Trusting in their abilities and our own is crucial. Embracing change and uncertainty paves the way for new experiences. The love and pride we feel for our children knows no bounds.
With a heart full of pride and a mind at peace, I look forward to witnessing my daughter’s educational journey unfold.
