Stop growing up fast!

School life is one of the best and safest times in our lives. All would agree, no worries and just fun. But when we are in school, we tend to despise it so much because of the schedules, learnings, deadlines, and tests. Looking at your parents, you think they have the freedom to do anything at any time, and so you want to grow up to be an adult very fast. Here you should remember the famous age-old quote, ‘The pasture is always greener on the other side.’

Why I am saying that is, adulthood comes with responsibility, and it’s unforgiving. You don’t know the amount of pressure and stress your parents are working through every moment of the day. No wonder most of the adults have a lot of health issues, and you don’t see any child walking with those kinds of diseases because of the schoolwork. Trust me, I was there too. Of course, kudos for you young children who are managing the pressures of this present digital world madness and still doing all that’s expected of you. I know it’s not easy being a child nowadays. But you have a lot of people to support you, guide you and, most importantly, care for you. Know this for a fact: every adult wants to visit their childhood and be there for some time. But time…time works very differently. You can only think about it and feel it but can’t go back. Can’t go back to the happy moments or the bad ones. We always reminisce about our childhoods and sigh. Remember what you are undergoing is building you, shaping you for your future. What seems very difficult now wouldn’t matter so much later or even in a few days. So, while you are here,

  • Make a lot of friends; you don’t know, some may last a lifetime. Learn from each other, grow together.
  • Learn new skills: computers, coding, first aid.
  • Learn life skills, like cooking, banking, and how to survive in a forest!!
  • Learn a new language; there are plenty of choices.
  • Learn new art forms; music heals your heart, and painting makes you creative.
  • Learn to act by joining the drama.
  • Learn a sport: skating, tennis, or the new craze, pickleball.
  • Learn to speak to people, something we all are beginning to lack.
  • Learn to listen to people too; no one has time for this.
  • Learn to observe your surroundings while sitting quietly; it might sound insane, but you will know how much life is happening around you.

These are just a few ideas, but many more are out there. Make your time count. With technology, people are losing the human touch; keep yourself tied to reality. Watch outside the window while driving and see a lot of landscapes; your eyes and brain will thank you. This is the time you can explore, fail, and learn again. No one is going to judge you. Have a range of things to learn; trust me, it will make you grow into a very strong personality. At your age, again, time works differently; as fast as it’s going, it can be stretched by your tiny fingers. We know when you do your homework and at TV times! Show some gratitude and count your blessings.

Again. Enjoy your childhood; don’t rob yourself of the innocence it comes with!
